| Breed Shampoos |
The dog shampoos or conditioners that are mentioned for each breed are not the only ones which can be used for that breed. Do not be afraid to make your own selection from the other categories.
If your breed is not here then let us know (0845 2707761) and we will pay attention to that breed next, (which one next?) In the meantime, have look at a breed with a similar coat. |

afghan The afghan hound is one of the most identifiable of dogs recognized by the elegance of its thick, fine, silky coat, The length of the coat means that it requires constant maintenance to appear at its best. Good shampoos and conditioners (like these) will help to keep the afghan hair strong and so enable it to grow long.
irish setter The Irish setter has medium length silky hair with feathering on the limbs, tail and belly. Hair like this has a tendency to flyaway after washing because it is then very easy to generate static electricity. Such a coat needs these shampoos to control its appearance.
leonberger The Leonberger has a full, water resistant, double coat. The long outer coat is durable, relatively straight, lies flat, and fits close. Mature, male Leonbergers have a pronounced mane on its neck and chest, creating a lion-like outline. It has generous feathering on its legs and tail. Its undercoat is soft and dense With its black mask a range of coat colors from sand, yellow, red, brown are found, maybe tipped with black. All this amount of coat requires constant attention to prevent knots.
newfoundland The Newfoundland breed has a flat, coarse coat. It is double, dense and oily, all of which make it water-resistant. The oils removed by washing must be replaced from the shampoo.
poodle Poodles have a single coat of dense fur needing constant attention and cutting every 6-8 weeks. It can be soft or coarse, woolly or wavy.
shih tzu An ancient breed from China, the shih tzu has a long flowing top coat that is ideal for trapping the dense undercoat and causing knotty tangles. Regular, even daily, grooming keeps the hair under control, particularly for show dogs. A shorter,'puppy', clip reduces the need for grooming but is not acceptable for showing.
spaniel The spaniel coat is dense and silky requiring a lot of attention to keep it looking at its best.
west highland terrier The westie's undercoat is short and soft and liable to mats and tangles. The outercoat is harsh and free of curls.Of all breeds, the west highland terrier is the subject of the most reports of skin problems. We have heard reports of westies being on steroids for years. We have also heard reports of total relief after just three washes using dermadine westie shampoo over a period of a few weeks. If you use malaseb shampoo then try the dermadine.
